The Slovenian National team faced a huge blow on Wedneday when teh team gathered again in Kranjska Gora to continue the practicing camp for the upcoming Olympic Qualification Tournament in Athens. On eof its main forces Matjaž Smodiš cancelled the participation dur to injury.
Smodiš, who was practicing according to a special programm from the day one, received the confirmation of the first diagnosis (made in Moscow) from a specialist in the USA to whom he send the exams with a strong desire to hear better news. »But the American doctor confirmed that his foot needs at least a month to recover and was pretty convincing in advicing me to cancel the participation in the national team,« said Smodiš. The Slovenian team now counts only 12 men since Miha Zupan also left the team to help the national team of deafs which participates at the European Championship for partially deaf and deaf players. He will be back next week.
